Improving the Quality of Life by Flaviana Matata: http://bit.ly/bHGOny
Go read.
So I just got back to my apartment from leaving the library, and I get on CNN to read about what’s going on in the world.
There has been a cholera outbreak in Haiti. 140+ people have died, and over 1,000 people infected have been hospitalized. This small country have been through a lot, and now this? If I was a billionaire, I would do whatever in my power to help them out. This country is one of the poorest countries in the world.
Although Haiti needs help, there are also other countries in the world that need help as well. Let’s go into Africa. For example, my country, Eritrea. Google it if you haven’t heard of the country, since every time I mention it, people want to be ignorant. What I’m trying to say is, we should help out. Celebrities we see on television and magazines who are millionaires and billionaires, what are they doing to help out and contribute to society? I’m sure they’ve contributed to organizations and such, but are they really helping people overseas? From what I’ve read the only celebrities that have put their time and effort overseas are Oprah and Angelina Jolie.
I want to mention one celebrity in particular. Kim Kardashian. I’m mentioning her because she’s literally everywhere in the media. Don’t get me wrong, I love her. I’ve read a bibliography about her recently and I was like wow, she’s made a name out of herself. She’s a billionaire now with all these projects, stores, her perfume, Bebe clothes line, amongst other things. She’s definitely well off. And now that she’s thirty, with all the money and opportunities she has, I expect her to contribute into society and show us that she’s not just a celebrity with a sex tape who has made a big name out of herself.
I just wish all celebrities would do that. And I’m sure many have. If I had the kind of money they have in their bank account, I would definitely do something to help; simply be humane. I just pray that Haiti will overcome everything they have been through. And I also pray that other countries who are suffering every single day, will overcome their hard work in trying make a living for themselves in terrible conditions.
Be thankful for what you have. We’re so blessed.
And that’s just my two cents :)
